Essentially, rates at our retreat include the rooms as well as use of the spaces.
These spaces include: The Living Library, studio space, a kitchen, a salon/dining room, WiFi, the terrace and gardens. For those who prefer private work spaces: the bedrooms have desks, and two rooms have a private work space (see Calliope and Thalia/Melpomene).
We keep our rates as accessible as possible to be able to accept artists and writers at all stages in their careers. The exchange between established residents and those who are just starting out is a valuable part of the experience, for both.
In order to do so, we accept residents on a variety of "formulas." Residents either come on a paid retreat stay, a partial barter or full barter (see barter page) or as recipients of the fellowships we offer (see fellowship residencies page).
Rooms and Rates for Groups
La Muse is also available at discounted rates for group bookings. We have hosted many universities, including such writing departments and programs from The University of Iowa, Washington State University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
To accommodate larger group retreats, people who want to come with their family or for shorter retreats, we manage the rentals of several cottages in the village. Residents who rent cottages are invited to use the La Muse the living library, high-speed WiFi internet access, art studio and terrace.
You can check out our retreats calendar for timing your retreat.
There is an additional 25% charge on all rooms for couples.
