This short film was made by our boys Seamus and Fionn when they were twelve:
All of humanity's problems stem from man's inability to sit quietly in a room alone.

What kind of retreats does La Muse offer?
The manor house offers a retreat to people seeking stillness, downtime, fresh air, and a fun, creative community.
A stay at La Muse will help you get back in touch with and experience your rich inner life.
When you get in flow, work, writing in your room, painting in the studio, becomes play.
Get away from your phone, your office, your home, your schedule, your bad habits, and your entourage for even one week, and you will feel refreshed when you return.
La Muse does not emphasize hard work, per se, although there is a lot of it done at La Muse, but creative play.
Get out for walks. Take time for yoga and meditation. Do nothing for big chunks of time.
Eat good food in good company. Drink spring water straight from the mountain:
Feel good again!
La Muse is a retreat for artists, writers, composers, screenwriters, musicians, academics, and many other diverse creative individuals and groups, at great prices.
Rooms and rates are as accessible as possible to be able to accept writers, artists and academics at all stages in their careers on retreat.
The exchange between established residents and those who are just starting out is a valuable part of the experience, for both.
In order to do so, residents are accepted on a variety of "formulas".
The rooms and rates when you directly apply to La Muse range from 395 - 1225 Euros per retreat (single occupancy).
This includes a one/two/three week long stay, use of the living library and its wonderful collection of inspiring books, (the biography of Rimbaud above being one) Wi-Fi, the shared kitchen, dining room, the art studio, and terrace.
La Muse has three double rooms and two suites that offer a bedroom and adjoining study.
Though you are recommend to come on an extended stay, three week retreats are a big commitment.
However, depending on the project, it is possible to get a great deal done in less time, hence the one week retreats schedule.
In addition, often space is available even at the last minute (though this is less likely during the summer).
So, if your life doesn't fit into the retreats calendar, email anyway. La Muse will meet you halfway when possible.
Also, rental of neighboring and adjoining village houses, cottages, to accommodate larger groups such as writing programs, artists who'd like to come with family, or those who can only come for shorter stays, are available.
La Muse is a self-service establishment.
The house is informal and comfortable, but a structure exists with the purpose of vigorous work and focus on a creative project.
That structure consists of the retreat guidelines, which each resident is asked to consult before applying and to consent to before agreeing to attend.
The purpose of these guidelines is to support a true retreat from life back home.
The retreat is as much a machine-free house as possible to enable you to clear your mental desktops and find peace and inspiration through discipline and some seclusion.
The point is to disconnect in order to connect.
The manor house is located in a secluded, very quiet village with no distractions, save people, nature, walking and the good food you are bound to enjoy in France.
A stay here feels like a step back in time with the neighboring octogenarians still practicing subsistence farming in their retirement.
Work at a desk in your room, at a writing table in the library, on the terrace or in the art studio.
A private work space can be arranged depending on availability.
