Clio is one of the three first-floor rooms at our retreat.
A double bedroom, it has an en-suite bathroom (tub, shower and toilet) as well as a decorative fireplace.
It also has two tall French windows, above, which overlook the valley and as with all rooms at the retreat it has a writing desk.
A lot of writers who don’t want access to email etc. while writing book Clio because it is the only room at La Muse that has no WiFi.
The walls are too thick for WiFi to get through.
Retreat Room Rates
*Summer retreats are priced weekly.
There is an additional 25% charge for couples.
We keep our rates as accessible as possible to be able to accept artists and writers at all stages in their careers.
We accept residents on a variety of “formulas.”
It’s possible to stay for several months, either on
- a paid retreat basis (click on the rooms above for rates).
- a partial barter (minimum four-week stay, 500 Euros per month).
- residencies and fellowships.
In regards to paid retreats we also offer reductions in the off-season and for extended stays. Extended-stay discounts even apply to July and August when booked 6 months in advance. These are amazing rates for summer accommodations in the south of France.

Our three-week retreats from September through June represent a roughly 30% reduction on what 3 weeks cost at the weekly rate.
That’s 3 weeks for the price of 2.

One-week stays are also possible in the shoulder and low seasons. We do not prorate for shorter stays.
Retreats begin and end on Tuesday.

Transportation can be arranged to and from the retreat, with weekly trips to town for sightseeing and shopping.

Clio is the muse of history, often called the Proclaimer because her name comes from the Greek word “make famous” or “recount.”
When represented Clio usually has a parchment scroll of a load of tablets nearby or in her hands. You can find her name in such words as cliometrics and cliodynamics.
